Energy, or Chi, is the life force upon which our body depends, and when it stops flowing in a balanced and continuous way, dis-ease and illness can manifest themselves. Stress and anxiety are the most common symptoms of energy not flowing freely and in abundance, followed by general aches and pains, and feeling tired.

Reflexology is a non-invasive treatment which involves applying gentle pressure to specific points on the hands and feet, with finger and thumb tips. These points reflect parts of the body and a person's emotional history. The treatment works with the body's energy and focuses on enabling that energy to flow freely, returning the body to a stable and self-maintaining state.

Here in the Balanced Reflex treatment rooms, we will put you at ease, help your body and mind to relax, and free up the energy channels so that you leave feeling rejuvenated and more energetic than when you arrived.

What happens during a treatment?

In your first treatment  I will go through your medical and lifestyle details, and you will be asked to sign a consent form for treatment and a data privacy statement. This information will be kept confidential and secure.

You will then be settled into a reclining chair (or onto a couch) and I will make observations of your feet - because they tell us a lot about how you are and how you are feeling at that time.

There will be soothing music playing, and the opportunity to talk - or to not talk - it's your hour in which to relax.

Reflexology is a very easy therapy to accept; the most clothing that will have to be removed for a foot treatment to take place will be your socks and shoes - and your trouser legs rolled up!

I use my thumbs and forefingers to apply gentle massaging pressure to the feet, (or hands if you are having hand reflexology). You may feel sensations in parts of your body throughout the treatment - this is a sign that your body is responding to the treatment.

Depending on the circumstances which have brought you to The Balanced Reflex, we will discuss the best way forwards, which is usually a course of 6 or 8 treatments.

But the best way to find that out is to come and try it for yourself!
